GETTING THERE BETTER
Whether on two wheels, by car or by train – mobility is second nature to us and continuously undergoing further development. A success that’s also partly due to gases.
Gases make our travel more comfortable, safer and more environmentally sound. This is the case for the welding and cutting of metal for motor vehicle bodies, for example. Several different gases are used to fill airbags – including helium, argon and oxygen, among others. Hydrogen-powered vehicles are helping ensure tomorrow’s mobility.
In local public transportation, liquid nitrogen is being used to expand subway systems: the cryogenic gas freezes soil to ensure stability and prevent water penetration.
